Who is responsible

Minato Tax Solutions Inc. (Les Solutions Fiscales Minato inc.) operates this website. Akira Kamio, CPA auditor, is responsible for the protection of personal information within the firm and can be reached at contact@minatotax.ca, at +1-438-777-8531, or at our Old Montreal office.

What we collect, and why

The site has no accounts, no enquiry form and no newsletter. Personal information reaches us in three ways only:

• Booking a consultation. Google Calendar collects your name, email address, telephone number, billing address and any note you add, so the meeting can be scheduled, confirmed and invoiced.
• Contacting us directly. Whatever you send by email, telephone, WhatsApp or LinkedIn, including what you tell us about your tax situation, so we can answer you and carry out the work if an engagement follows.
• Analytics. With your consent only, Google Analytics records pages viewed, approximate region derived from a truncated IP address, device and browser type, the site you arrived from, and a randomly generated identifier, so we can see which pages are read. None of it identifies you by name.

Cookies

Nothing is stored in your browser when you arrive. If you accept the banner, Google Analytics writes two cookies — one named _ga and one named after the measurement ID — which expire after two years and are used to tell one visitor from another. If you decline, the script is never loaded at all. Your answer is kept in this browser’s local storage and is never transmitted anywhere. The booking calendar on the consultation page is a Google frame that stays unloaded until you tick the acknowledgement box, so it contacts Google only if you choose to book. Ticking that box loads the frame, and Google then sets a cookie of its own named NID on the google.com domain, which lasts about six months and which Google uses for preferences and, for signed-out users, advertising. That cookie is Google’s, not ours — we can neither read it nor prevent it. Booking by email or telephone avoids it, and nothing else on the site loads that frame.

Who else sees it, and where

Google LLC processes the booking and analytics data described above, and Netlify hosts the site and keeps the usual server logs, including your IP address. Both run on servers outside Québec, including in the United States, where the information is subject to the laws of those jurisdictions. We assessed that before enabling either: no client file content is involved, and both are contractually bound to the protections required of a service provider. Booking by email or telephone, and declining analytics, avoids Google entirely. We sell personal information to no one and share none of it for advertising.

How long it is kept

Google retains the analytics data for 2 months — Google Analytics’ default retention period — and then deletes it automatically. Booking details stay in our calendar for the life of the file. Correspondence and client records are kept for as long as professional and tax rules require, generally seven years after the engagement ends, and destroyed afterwards.

Your rights

Law 25 and the Civil Code of Québec together give you the following rights, which you may exercise at any time:

• ask what personal information we hold about you and obtain a copy of it;
• have information that is inaccurate, incomplete or ambiguous corrected;
• ask that information be deleted, or that it stop being disseminated, once it is no longer needed for the purpose it was collected for;
• receive the computerized information you gave us in a structured, commonly used technical format;
• withdraw your consent to analytics, with no effect on anything else.
