About

A boutique practice combining technical expertise and a personalized approach.

Our Positioning

The professional tax services landscape is rich and complementary. Large firms bring remarkable depth of expertise and extensive resources, particularly well-suited to large-scale mandates. Smaller practices, for their part, distinguish themselves through proximity, agility, and the quality of the relationship they build with their clients.

These approaches are not in opposition — they serve different needs, at different moments in the evolution of businesses and individuals.

Within this landscape, there is also room for an intermediate approach: a boutique practice that combines a high level of technical specialization with a direct, strategic, and personalized relationship.

Minato Tax Solutions Inc. was built with this perspective in mind. The practice is focused on Canadian and international taxation, aiming to offer clients rigorous, informed, and tailored guidance. It draws on a combination of deep technical expertise, compliance experience, and strategic insight — while prioritizing close collaboration with clients and the other professionals involved.

"Because in taxation, beyond the obligations, decisions deserve to be guided with clarity, nuance, and perspective."

An experienced tax professional with over 12 years of experience in Canadian and international taxation, Akira Kamio advises a diverse clientele — including individuals, corporations, investors, Canadian non-residents, financial advisors, professional firms, businesses and entrepreneurs — on the structuring and management of their most complex tax matters.

Prior to founding Minato Tax Solutions Inc., Akira worked in high-level environments, including at a TSX-listed public company where he held transfer pricing roles. He was involved in the analysis and application of international tax treaties and OECD initiatives — notably those relating to base erosion and profit shifting (BEPS).

He subsequently contributed to the global tax compliance function of that organization, participating in the implementation of new international reporting obligations — including T1134 filings and Country-by-Country Reporting — while navigating evolving regulatory requirements in Canada and internationally.

Seeking to deepen his technical expertise, he joined a professional accounting firm where he advised clients on complex issues involving foreign affiliates and transfer pricing policies. More recently, he has assisted a varied clientele on cross-border tax matters: departures from Canada, tax residency, tax treaties, taxation of foreign registered accounts, immigration to Canada, and foreign investments in Canadian structures.
